Southern Dogs1963 52" x 42". Oil on Primed Linen.
About the Artwork:
Much like Robert Cenedella’s other works, Southern Dogs (1963) is as relevant to our current political climate as it was over fifty years ago. This painting caused a lot of discomfort for many Americans as they were forced to acknowledge the police brutality that the Black community was, and continues to be, faced with on a daily basis not only in Alabama, but all across the country. But is Art meant to make one feel comfortable, or is it better served as a means to expose the truth?
