This mixed media artwork was created based on the Sotheby’s and Christie’s price-fixing scheme and sparked by the true life character, Diana “Dede" Brooks, the then CEO of Sotheby’s. In 2000, Brooks had admitted her guilt in hopes of getting a reduced sentence, while implicating A. Alfred Taubman, an American real estate developer. One of the last things Taubman said to Brooks was, ”You will look good in pin stripes." The resulting artwork by Cenedella, already considered the ultimate visual commentary on the entire "Art Racket," could have easily been of Dede, but as things turned out, it was Taubman who ended up in pin stripes. The Lot No. 50444-054 is Taubman's jail number. No one from Christie’s was charged.
